We’re loving the intro line of our friends at Good Brazilian who describe the stall being run by “almost Brazilian” couple Gustavo and Vitalija Nogueiras (Brazilian + Lithuanian).

During the years they lived in Brazil, Vitalija completely fell in love with Brazilian cuisine. Living in Ireland both were missing flavors of the Brazilian cuisine. Finally their dream to work in food markets and introduce and pass on their passion of Brazilian food became reality (Thanks to IVM! Note – we did not pay them to say that )

The couple carefully selected 3 dishes (Moqueca, Feijoada and Chicken Strogonoff) which could represent Brazilian cuisine in a mouthful (the most kind chef passed on his secrets of preparation the best dishes you can find in Brazilian restaurants) They are trading with us since December 2012 3 times a week – Wednesday – East Point Business Park, Thursday – Blanchardstown corporate Park and Fridays in Sandyford.

They tell us they are extremely excited that they already have lots fans of their Brazilian food! Hopefully more and more people will discover flavors of Brazil from visiting their stall.

Dave’s Wood-Fired Pizza is run by both Dave and his brother Karl. They were the first mobile wood-fired pizza company in the country. Dave and Karl offer a variety of mouth-watering fresh sourdough wood-fired pizzas made to order with cool, cold beverages too! Big market favourite with our lunchtime visitors, we asked Dave a little more about his set up.

Tell us about your stall, how did it come to be?
We got the mobile unties and dressed them up to look what we hope is eye-catching. Of course, we had to customize all our units as a mobile wood-fired pizza oven is very unusual and we were the first in the country. It is true what they say – first to arrive, longest to stay, best on the scene or at least so our customers tell us.

Have you always had a passion for food?
Since I was around 11 or 12 years old. I grew up in a food environment – learning from my kitchen at home as a kid, that cooking curiosity never left me, coupled with the finance interest the balance felt right.

When you’re not feeding people, what do you like to do?
Life outside of market activity… interesting concept It is important to take a break and when I get one I like to head off and do outdoor activities like kite-surfing, running or swimming.

What is the best thing you’ve ever eaten, and where did you eat it?
I remember it well. The best dish I ever ate was a fresh Spanish Mackerel Coconut Curry on a fishing boat in the middle of the Arafura Sea. *Sigh*

What should visitors to your stall expect?
A fresh sourdough pizza, made with natural ingredients, cooked onsite, made to order and bespoke to customers requests. I think you mentioned they were mouth-wateringly good!

Other than your own, what stall would you recommend people visit at Irish Village Markets?
Nods in the direction of Falafel

Thanks for chatting with us Dave…

Happenings, organises cultural events across Dublin City. One is these fantastic events is their Open Air Cinema Festival which takes place in Fitzwilliam Square.

This Thursday, 2nd May we will be taking part providing food courtesy of our most popular traders. Starting at 7.30pm (check Happenings for updates) the film is predicted to be The Big Lebowski – one of the all time greats (in my opinion!).

It was a hugely popular event for the first event which ran on the 19th April showing the classic Some Like it Hot – this Thursday will prove to be just as if not more popular.

Taking part you will find Mango Catering who make the juciest, highest quality, tastest burgers available, alongside them will be Little Marrakesh who delight customers with their Moroccan cuisine – full on flavours, good on price.

Spitfire Pig Roast will be enjoying their first outdoor event with us this Thursday – Spitfire Pig Roast makes exactly what it says – this is something not to be missed, divine delicious. While The Big Cheese has this utterly unique offering which once tasted people just keep coming back for more. What a taster try reading this without your mouth watering – Alpine melted Raclette cheese served on a bed of baby potatoes garnished with chorizo or bacon, sweet red peppers, spicy gherkins and rocket leaves.

Say Fish - who make the very delectable fresh fish in panko breadcrumbs. Serving hand cut chips with seaweed salt with a choice of sauces including lemon, Cajun mayo, garlic mayo, and homemade tartar it can be the perfect accompaniment to watch a Open Air movie.

All in all the movie, atmosphere, venue and delicious food add the perfect ingredients to make the perfect evening. See you there.

Check out our calendar to see what events we are participating in over the summer.

The Big Cheese are bringing famous “Raclette” dishes to the market. Raclette is a Swiss dish that is very popular in the alpine areas of both Switzerland and France and which is now slowly starting to make its way across Europe.

Raclette is both the name of a cheese and the method of its presentation. The raclette cheese is melted under a special alpine burner before being meted out onto a selection of grilled vegetables, potatoes and cooked meats.

They offer a selection of gourmet toasted cheese sandwiches using locally sourced ingredients including Irish farmhouse cheeses, bacon, ham, and smoked turkey all served on freshly baked sourdough crust.

These may be garnished with homemade condiments including basil mayonnaise, homemade onion jam, and roasted red pepper cream.

Check them out on Thursdays at Mespil and Fridays at Sandyford!

Little Marrakesh is an idea by two friends and fellow food enthusiasts to bring authentic Moroccan food to the streets of Dublin city.

Paul Kavanagh a chef of fifteen years worked at several Michellin starred restaurants here in Ireland and in the United Kingdom including Gordon Ramsay and Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud. Most recently Paul was head chef for Domini and Peaches Kemp at ITSA4 Sandymount in Dublin 4. Paul visited Morocco last year to observe first-hand the flavours and techniques used by the cooks of Morocco.

Dave O’Shea, an IT specialist previously employed by KPMG for nine years, always had a keen interest in cooking and in particular ethnic cuisines such as Moroccan, Thai and Korean food.

Paul and Dave from Little Marrakesh comment “As a fan of ethnic foods we had a particular interest in Moroccan food for a number of reasons. The scope for healthy vegetarian dishes was huge. More often than not, vegetarian foods in restaurants is more of an afterthought on the menu and can often consist of a generic house salad or a mushroom risotto or vegetable and mozzarella stack etc. We intend to offer vegetarian dishes as interesting and flavoursome as our popular meat dishes”.

We are excited at having Little Marrakesh at our lunchtime food markets. The fragrance and flavour of the slow cooked meat and vegetable tagines is particularly aromatic when walking through the market since they came onboard, similar to the smells you would enjoy when walking through the streets of Morocco.

Currently at our Sandyford market we gently suggest you give them a try

On the 16th, 17th and 18th of March we invite you to see the festival sights while enjoying the tastes of quality market food while soaking in the atmosphere of the St Patrick’s Festival in one of Ireland’s oldest & most beautiful churches.

Enjoy the tastes, smells and bustle of a street food market which has been running for over 8 years. Irish Village Markets provides the highest quality, authentic foods from all over the world. You will be able to munch on a gourmet burger, delight in the flavours of Thai cuisine or try an Irish gyro while watching the hustle and bustle and enjoying the crack of the Festival in the heart of the city.

St Patrick’s may be more famous, but the city’s second medieval cathedral has an abundance of charm. It is beautiful and open to visitors. The joy of the market is that it is such a modern food market with stall holder and chefs from all over the world situated in what is an ancient and sacred Irish landmark. Dating back to around 1030, it is said that its bells have pealed over the capital since the early 1400s.

The belfry has recently been opened up to visitors, and you can also view the impressive collection of church treasures and parish silver in the treasury.

So why not enjoy your lunch while walking around the grounds of this impressive visitors attraction, we will see you there?
