Due to the high volume of waste generated at our markets, we are actively discouraging the use of all non-recyclable food packaging.
Customers will be able to dispose of all compostable containers in specified bins at each market which will be removed and taken back to our facility in Sandyford, washed and made ready for disposal.
We are awaiting a response from Dublin City Council on how to sustainably manage the correct disposal of this packaging.
Alongside the collection of compostable waste, we will also provide separate waste containers for both drink bottles and cans for recycling.
It’s going to take a bit of time for our traders and customers to adjust to this new method but we feel the benefits for the environment and for our children’s future outweigh the costs associated with replacing styrofoam and BPA packaging with environmentally compostable packaging.
